Located in region International Ocean Discovery Program Texas A&M University The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) at Texas A&M University is seeking a qualified individual who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a broad range of experience in shipping and receiving materials both domestically and internationally and is current on export/import control and compliance regulations to fill the full-time Shipping and Receiving Specialist position. The position is responsible for carrying out Traffic/Rate Analyst duties in support of Science Operations, as well as developing, evaluating and maintaining IODP’s strategies for supply chain transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize cost. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipping and receiving to sea ports around the world domestically and internationally with detailed knowledge of various packaging methods and hazardous materials shipping, proper labeling procedures, and preparation of international and domestic bills of lading, one year of supervisory capacity is required. Former warehousing experience is also desirable. Qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of training and experiences. Two years’ experience in both Domestic and International Shipping and Receiving with detailed knowledge of various packaging methods and hazardous materials shipping; proper labeling procedures, and preparation of international and domestic bills of lading. selection interviewOne year in supervisory capacity is required. Experience with scientific ocean drilling is preferred with a background in the sciences. Domestic and International export and import control/compliance certification is also required.
