After submitting my answers, I received information from a number of orders who were more than happy to speak with me or even to arrange a visit. Each vocation is a commitment to love in a certain way. A vocation is the work that someone is called to do as a job. The implication of the question is, what is your career? This distinction between a call to holiness and a call to a specific vocation – single person, married life, consecrated life or ordained ministry – is important. Saint Benedict admitted young children presented by their parents to his order; and the canonical axiom “Mona chum abut paternal devotion abut propria profession facet” c. 3, bx, q. 1, “A man becomes a monk either by parental consecration or by personal profession”, an axiom that was received in the Western Church from the sixth to the eleventh century, shows to what extent the religious life was considered open and to be recommended as a rule to all. In Durant, every resident we spoke with Friday saidthekillings wereabsolutely heartbreaking. The community is grief stricken over the killings of the two sisters in faith who committed their lives to Christianity through Catholicism. Sonny Williams is one of many Durant residents who personally knew the two victims from visiting the local clinic where thepair worked. He says the entire community is in mourning. “I thought it was horrible. job huntingStill think it’s horrible. I think it’s one of the worst things that has ever happened in Durant,” said Sonny Williams, who knew the victims. “I think they have to be sick. They have to be sick to do something like that,” Williams added. “I think it’s bad. Those people never did bother anybody. They were nice folks,” said Durant resident, Jimmie Perry. The active vocation of prayer and service to others is why the community has such a love for Sister Paula and Sister Margaret.

Her speech was part of an annual convocation video that teachers and staff watched Monday morning to kick off the new school year. Sinaguglia urged her colleagues to adopt the familiar phrase, If you see something, say something, to recognize potentially wonderful abilities in their students. She cited examples of former students who came back to share how her encouraging words changed their lives. Hearing from a 1978 Rippowam graduate who, with the help of teachers along the way, recognized that music and theater are his lifelong vocation, she said. Or the 1980s graduate whom I encouraged to audition for Grease and who, unbeknownst to me, went on to study voice in college and is now a college professor of voice himself.
